Lee Blakie is a Tasmanian-born multidisciplinary artist based on the state’s North West Coast. With a practice spanning more than forty years, Blakie explores the evolving relationship between humanity and the environment, and the passage of time that connects them. Working across a range of mediums—currently pencil drawing, watercolour, photography and textiles—she documents fragile ecosystems under environmental stress.

Blakie holds a Master of Art, Design and Environment from the University of Tasmania. Recent career highlights include contributing to the collaborative artist’s book project The Book of Q at PressWEST in Queenstown, and selection for the anonymous [Let the] Art Speak exhibition at Hobart’s Long Gallery.

An award-winning artist, Blakie exhibits widely throughout Tasmania and has recently received People’s Choice Awards from both the Launceston Art Society and Devonport Regional Gallery. Her work also features in the Tasmanian Art Society’s 2026 calendar.

Through her work, Blakie seeks to foster a deeper appreciation of the natural world, highlighting our interconnectedness with Mother Nature and the shared responsibility we hold to care for the planet through ecological stewardship.
